No entry for heavy vehicles, autos on key routes during Ram Navami

Sunday, 06 April 2025 | PNS | Jamshedpur

In preparation for Ram Navami celebrations, the East Singhbhum district administration has announced a series of strict traffic restrictions to ensure public safety and smooth vehicular movement across Jamshedpur. A joint order has been issued by Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal, Senior Superintendent of Police Kishore Kaushal, and the Traffic DSP detailing the traffic control measures to be implemented over two days.

On April 6, the movement of all heavy vehicles will be completely restricted in two phases—from 6:00 AM to 11:30 AM and again from 1:00 PM to 11:00 PM. However, passenger buses will be allowed during these hours to facilitate public transportation. The restrictions will be tightened on April 7, when a complete ban on goods carriers, four-wheelers, buses, and heavy vehicles will come into effect from 1:00 PM on April 7 until 6:00 AM on April 8.

In addition, three-wheelers including auto-rickshaws will not be permitted to operate between 2:00 PM and 10:00 PM on April 7 in several high-traffic zones and procession-prone areas such as Golmuri Chowk, RD Tata Roundabout, Sagar Hotel, No. 9 Taxi Stand, Basant Talkies, Mini Bus Stand, Sakchi Roundabout, Bengal Club, Kitab Line, Old Court Turn, and Swarnarekha Ghat Road.

The administration has urged citizens to cooperate with the restrictions, plan their travel accordingly, and avoid non-essential travel during the restricted hours. Authorities emphasized that the measures are necessary to manage large crowds, facilitate smooth religious processions, and ensure the safety of all participants and residents during the festival.

In preparation for the upcoming Ram Navami immersion processions, the Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal and Senior Superintendent of Police Kishore Kaushal jointly inspected multiple river ghats across the city, reviewing ongoing administrative preparations and issuing necessary instructions to officials on the ground.

The inspection covered several key immersion points along the Swarnarekha and Kharkai rivers, including Swarnarekha Ghat, Pandey Ghat, Kapali Ghat, Naya Pul Ghat, Green Park Ghat, Vidyut SubStation Ghat, Beli Bodhanwala Ghat, and Baroda Ghat. The senior officials closely monitored the work being done for cleanliness, lighting, road access repair, barricading, and safety arrangements for devotees.

During the visit, directions were given to the municipal authorities and Jusco representatives to carry out road repairs leading to the ghats through mutual coordination. The district administration also reviewed the deployment of divers, medical teams with ambulances, parking management, and security deployment to ensure smooth and safe conduct of the immersion rituals.

Ananya Mittal emphasized that devotee safety is the top priority, and instructed all officials to implement security measures without delay. He called for proper barricading at all ghats, adequate lighting, and timely sanitation measures to be ensured by the concerned departments. He further urged officials to stay on the move and maintain continuous coordination with Akhara  committee members, stressing the need for processions to start and conclude on time to avoid crowd congestion and maintain law and order.
