Tamil Nadu shines on 2nd Day of 68th National School Games

On the second day of the 68th National School Sports Competition 2024- 25 being conducted at Bhagwan Birsa Munda Football Stadium in the State capital, in the Under 19 Athletics competition, the best performance was seen from the players of Tamil Nadu.

From the host State, Saket Minj got victory in the boys 400- meter race while amongst the girls Preeti Lakra won the gold medal in the girls long jump and brought laurels to the State.

In the competitions held today, Jithin Arjunnan of Tamil Nadu got the gold medal in the boys 100- meter race while Rudra Shinde of Maharashtra got the silver medal and Adi Pujari of Maharashtra got the bronze medal in this competition.

Harjot Singh of Punjab won the gold medal in the boys 400- meter category while Saeed Sabir got the silver medal and Mohammad Ashfaq of Kerala got the bronze medal. Shahrukh Khan of Uttar Pradesh won the gold medal in the 500 meter race whereas Lakshya Kumar of Haryana and Arjun Maurya of Uttar Pradesh won the silver and bronze medals respectively.

In the boys 110- meter hurdle race competition, Saif from Maharashtra secured the gold medal while P. Surya of Kendriya Vidyalaya won the silver medal and Jithin Arjunnan of Tamil Nadu got the bronze. Jithin Arjunnan of Tamil Nadu got the gold medal in the boys long jump competition, MD. Atta Sajid of CBSC got the silver and Sheikh Zeeshan of Uttar Pradesh got the bronze medal. In this competition Deepak Munda of Jharkhand secured fourth position.

In the boys high jump competition, Sinan of Karnataka got the gold medal while Vikas Yadav of Delhi and Vineet Kumar of Haryana got the silve and bronze medals respectively.

In the girls 100- meter race Thea AK of Tamil Nadu got gold medal, Vaja Kajal of Gujarat got silver and Nedarar of Tamil Nadu got bronze. Similarly, in the girls 400- meter race Vanshika of CBSC secured the top spot and won the gold medal followed by Jyotika of Kerala who got silver and Abhigyan of Karnataka managed to win the bronze medal. Poonam Kumari of Jharkhand secured the fourth position in the girls 400- meter race.

In the long jump competition, Preeti Lakra of Jharkhand secured the top spot and clinched the gold medal followed by Sonakshi Kanauj of Kendriya Vidyalaya who got the silver medal and Sadhna Ravi of CFTI who won the bronze medal.

A cultural evening was also organised at Bhagwan Birsa Munda Football Stadium for the players and other team members who have come from various parts of the country to participate in the event. The players were introduced to the folk culture of Jharkhand while the captivating performances and folk dances by the local artists filled the atmosphere with enthusiasm. The players and the guests from other states thoroughly enjoyed this cultural evening.
