He called for the creation of an action plan that addresses current demands and future possibilities. He instructed the Higher Education Department officials to establish a task force and ensure the preparation of action plans for all universities within a set timeframe.
Patel and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav was addressing a meeting of Kulguru from Government Universities at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla and Minister of State for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development (Independent Charge) Lakhan Patel also attended the meeting.
Patel urged Kulguru to prioritize student welfare with sensitivity, emphasizing that parents entrust their children to government universities with confidence in the government. He encouraged Kulguru to adopt a parental perspective in addressing student needs and to regularly inspect hostels, mess facilities, sports amenities, and classrooms to ensure their quality and upkeep.
The Governor said there was a need for the universities to prioritize courses that enhance regional employment opportunities. In addition to degrees and diplomas, he advocated for the introduction of demand-driven courses tailored to the needs of local industries and businesses. He called for arrangements to study related subjects that align with employment requirements and the availability of human resources. Governor Patel also highlighted the importance of upgrading sports facilities in universities and ensuring maximum student participation in Red Cross activities.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that all universities should become multi-disciplinary and self-reliant institutions. Along with traditional subjects, special efforts should be made to start courses based on demand and with high employment prospects.
Yadav said that universities should streamline their operations in line with the autonomy granted under the National Education Policy. He stressed utilizing modern technology to simplify admissions, provide quality education, conduct timely examinations, and ensure prompt result declarations. Dr. Yadav advocated for the adoption of online evaluation systems for exam answer sheets and proposed completing the formalities for mark sheets and degree distribution at the time of admission. This would enable students to access their documents immediately through the DG locker system.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the government is committed to the betterment of higher education institutions. The government is giving full support to the universities. The government has made the universities resource-rich by taking new initiatives to ensure the availability of financial, physical, and human resources. The staff of universities is as important to the government as government servants.
Yadav said that the universities should become self-reliant by exploiting their resources and exploring new possibilities. He called for a visionary approach to achieve excellence, urging Kulguru to demonstrate their talent and capability in utilizing university resources effectively, adopting self-financing strategies, and exploring Public-Private Partnership (PPP) models.
