At a review meeting held in Gwalior, Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company (MKVVCL) Managing Director Kshitij Singhal, on Friday, told officials to ensure the immediate replacement of faulty and non-functional meters in consumer premises.
He also directed that applications for load enhancement and new connections be processed within the stipulated time, ensuring new connections and load increases are implemented accordingly.
The meeting, attended by Chief General Manager Rajeev Gupta, General Manager Nitin Manglik, and other senior field officials, focused on improving revenue generation and addressing defaulter issues.
Singhal emphasised the need for effective action against electricity theft, including disconnecting services for defaulters who have reconnected illegally, in line with Sections 135 and 138 of the Electricity Act 2003. He also urged improvements in billing efficiency, collection efficiency, and the reduction of technical and commercial losses.
Singhal stressed the importance of expediting the installation of smart meters, informing consumers of their benefits. He directed better maintenance of distribution transformers to reduce failures and minimise tripping on 33kV and 11kV feeders. Additionally, he called for an uninterrupted power supply to high-voltage consumers and the timely resolution of their issues. Regarding ongoing electrical works under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), he instructed that projects be completed as per the contract terms, with action taken against negligent agencies.
