Manoj Shrivastava appointed State Election Commissioner

The Madhya Pradesh government has appointed retired Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer Manoj Shrivastava as the State Election Commissioner. Shrivastava will assume the role from January 1, 2025, succeeding V.P. Singh, whose tenure concludes on December 31.Previously, on September 10, the state government constituted a commission to undertake a fresh delimitation exercise aimed at reassessing the number of districts and divisions along with their boundaries. Shrivastava had been appointed as a member of this Delimitation Commission.Ahead of his new appointment, Shrivastava tendered his resignation from the Delimitation Commission to take on his role as the Chief Election Commissioner.

The order issued on Tuesday says, Shrivastava would remain on the post for six years or when he attains 66 years of age.
