The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted dense fog across northern parts of Jharkhand in the early morning hours over the next 48 hours. The Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued a bulletin warning residents to exercise caution, particularly during travel, as visibility is expected to drop significantly in some areas.
According to the forecast, several districts will also experience partly cloudy skies during the day. Weathermen noted that no significant synoptic condition prevails over Jharkhand at present, but the combined effects of temperature fluctuations and atmospheric moisture are likely to contribute to foggy conditions.
Jharkhand continues to face chilly weather, with minimum temperatures dropping across various districts. Hazaribagh recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 7.7 degrees Celsius. Ranchi, the state capital, registered a minimum of 10.4 degrees Celsius.
In Jamshedpur, the local observatory recorded a minimum temperature of 12.6 degrees Celsius, while Daltonganj followed closely with 12 degrees Celsius. Other districts also witnessed cold conditions, with Bokaro at 10.5 degrees Celsius and Dhanbad at 10.1 degrees Celsius. Gumla recorded a chilly 7.9 degrees Celsius, and neighboring Khunti reported 9.8 degrees Celsius.
Bokaro reported the lowest visibility in the state, with conditions reducing visibility to just 600 metres in the early hours. Shallow fog was observed in many parts of the state, dissipating gradually as the day progressed to reveal partly cloudy skies.
IMD officials have advised caution, especially for commuters and motorists traveling during the early morning hours. The dense fog may affect road and rail transportation. Residents are urged to use fog lights and drive at reduced speeds to ensure safety.
The weather department is closely monitoring the situation and will issue updates as needed. Meanwhile, residents are advised to stay updated on local weather forecasts and prepare for colder nights and foggy mornings.
