Cold wave, fog persist: Low visibility in many districts

This time, New Year will be celebrated in Madhya Pradesh amidst severe cold and fog. On Tuesday morning, fog affected many districts of Gwalior-Chambal, Ujjain, Sagar and Rewa divisions. Visibility was reduced to 20 meters. There is a cold-day alert in Ujjain-Ratlam today. At the same time, cold wave will also prevail in Shajapur, Neemuch, Mandsaur and Agar-Malwa.

Due to the activity of Western Disturbance, there was rain and cloudy weather in the entire state for two days. Hail also occurred in many districts. As soon as this phase ended, the effect of cold increased. Due to this, there has been a significant drop in day and night temperatures. In many cities, the day and night temperatures remained the same.

According to the Meteorological Department, the effect of cold will remain in the state on the last night of the year 2024. There will be severe cold in Malwa i.e. Ujjain division. Where there will be cold day and cold wave. Bhopal, Indore-Jabalpur will also be affected by cold.

On new year Gwalior, Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Shivpuri, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Satna, Maihar, Rewa, Mauganj, Sidhi, Singrauli, Guna, Ashoknagar, Neemuch, Mandsaur will have light to moderate fog. Ujjain-Ratlam has a cold day alert and Neemuch, Mandsaur, Agar-Malwa, Shajapur would witness a cold wave.

On January 2 Neemuch, Mandsaur, Gwalior, Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Shivpuri, Guna, Ashoknagar, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Satna, Maihar, Rewa, Mauganj, Sidhi and Singrauli will have light to moderate fog.

According to the Meteorological Department, the effect of cold wave and cold day may last for 20 to 22 days in January. In the first two days, the effect of cold wave will be seen in the districts of Gwalior, Chambal and Ujjain division. After this, the effect will increase in the entire state.

After the rain stopped in MP, the effect of fog has increased. There was fog in many cities of the state on Tuesday morning. Visibility in Gwalior and Shajapur was 200 to 500 meters. That is, nothing was visible after half a km. Visibility of 500 to one thousand meters was recorded in Bhopal, Damoh, Jabalpur, Sagar, Rajgarh. Visibility was up to 1 to 2 km in the remaining cities.

Here, the effect of cold has also increased at night. The mercury came down to 9.6 degrees in Bhopal. 9.5 degrees were recorded in Jabalpur. Indore had 14.3 degrees, Gwalior had 11.4 degrees and Ujjain had 13 degrees.

Rajgarh was the coldest at night. The mercury here was recorded at 5.6 degrees. Mandla had 6.7 degrees, Tikamgarh had 8.2 degrees, Pachmarhi had 8.5 degrees, Narsinghpur had 8.8 degrees, Nowgong had 9 degrees, Raisen had 9.1 degrees, Guna had 9.3 degrees, Umaria had 9.6 degrees, Malajkhand had 9.7 degrees.
