Street plays, flash mob, musical bands, magic shows and puppet shows are likely to be witnessed by the people of Delhi in the coming days as the BJP is all set to attack AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on his alleged involvement in different scams, ‘Sheeshmahal’ and non-deliverance of poll promises using the cultural programmes it will organise in each of the 70 districts ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections.
Heightening the election fervour ahead of the Delhi Assembly polls, which are slated to be held on February 5, the Delhi BJP will select on Sunday the final teams who will perform and take the messaging of the party forward to the larger audience. Around 350 teams have auditioned for street plays, out of which the cultural committee will decided on the 140 teams, which will attack Kejriwal and make an appeal to vote for the BJP candidate of the district.
The plays, to be enacted by a team of five, which includes one girl, narrates the ordeal of how her husband fights with her after getting drunk in a bid to attack the AAP convenor, on the alleged excise policy linked money laundering scam.
The play also attacks the former chief minister on pollution, Yamuna river not being cleaned, water scarcity, Mohalla clinic, expenditure on advertisement, and Sheeshmahal among other things. They also call him ‘Farjiwala,’ while making a vote appeal for the party’s candidate from the district.
About 140 teams, two in each district, will hold multiple performances to woo the public. This will begin after the nomination process which will take place on January 15. Moreover, it will also use attractive ways to connect to the larger public with the party also organizing flash malls in crowded places like malls, markets and other such places.
“We are using a fusion of five to six songs that show our love to the country and also the election song of BJP ‘Bahane nahi Badlav chahiye, Delhi me BJP sarkar chahiye’ (We don’t need excuses we need change, we need BJP government in Delhi),” a participant who will be doing flash mob said, adding that they will perform this dance at different places to spread the party’s narrative.
In musical performances, teams have come up with different songs centered around the theme of bring out the failures of the AAP government and telling them that BJP is the best alternative. In one of the songs presented by the teams, the lines were ‘Kehte the ki Yamuna ji me gote sab lagayege, saf pani Delhi ko nalo se pilayege, Kichad kar diya Yamuna ko, Delhi ban gayi dal dal, O dum tor rahi hai pardushan se Delhi har ek pal’ (They used to say we all will take a dive in Yamuna river together, they will make Delhi drink clean water from the taps, but they turned Yamuna into mud, Delhi has become a mere mortal, Delhi is losing its breath due to the pollution every single moment)
The BJP is vying to end their drought of more than two decades of not being in power in the national Capital while AAP is looking to have a third full term government in Delhi. The counting for the elections are slated to be held on February 8.
