The 17th edition of Hyundai India Couture Week 2024 unfolded with 14 breathtaking shows, spotlighting top couturiers who seamlessly fused tradition with modernity. This glamorous event underscored the creativity and craftsmanship of the Indian fashion industry, offering a mesmerising glimpse into the future of haute couture.
The Hyundai India Couture Week opened with a breathtaking display by Abu Sandeep with Wamiqa Gabbi as the ‘ASAL’ bride and Taha Shah Badussha as the ‘MARD’ groom, setting a high bar for the week’s fusion of tradition and modernity. Following this, Isha Jajodia’s ‘Roseroom’ featured Ridhima Kapoor in an elegant golden ensemble, while Jacqueline Fernandez dazzled as the showstopper in a dramatic black gown. In Siddartha Tytler’s ‘Caligula's Feast,’ Malaika Arora wowed in a gray and black lehenga adorned with intricate silver and gold embroidery, complemented by Rahul Khanna in a richly embellished sherwani and bold black boots.
Kunal Rawal’s ‘Sehra’ collection, showcased by Aditya Roy Kapur, redefined wedding couture with a modern twist on traditional elegance. In contrast, Suneet Varma’s ‘Nazm’ reimagined Indian decorative arts with luxurious fabrics like metallic tissue and pastel organza, creating a fresh aesthetic. Dolly J’s ‘La Vie En Rose’ was highlighted by Sonakshi Sinha in a glamorous pink gown adorned with gold and glitter, whereas JJ Valaya’s ‘MURAQQA’ elegantly blended historical richness with contemporary flair.
Among the standout moments, Amit Aggarwal’s ‘ANTE VORTA,’ inspired by the Greek goddess of the future, and Rahul Mishra’s ‘Nargis’ Collection, celebrated nature’s beauty, with Lisa Ray as the showstopper in an exotic ensemble. Additionally, Jayanti Reddy’s ‘Evocative Nawabi Canvas,’ featuring Aditi Rao Hydari, highlighted Nawabi grandeur, while Gaurav Gupta’s ‘Arunodaya,’ with Khushi Kapoor and Vedang Raina, captured the transformative beauty of dawn.
Rimzim Dadu’s ‘Stucco,’ showcased by Sobhita Dhulipala, impressed with its innovative textures and Tarun Tahiliani’s ‘Otherworldly’ pushed couture boundaries with futuristic designs. The week concluded spectacularly with Falguni Shane Peacock’s ‘Rang Mahal,’ featuring Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna, marking a memorable end to the fashion extravaganza.
