The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Jharkhand on Saturday organised a workshop focusing on Cyber Security titled "Ensuring Business Security in the Modern Era." The event brought together industry leaders, cybersecurity professionals, and stakeholders to deliberate on the pressing need for heightened cybersecurity measures in today's digital landscape.

Diloo Parikh, Chairman of CII Jamshedpur Zonal Council and Managing Director of Vaidehi Motors Pvt Ltd, set the tone by underlining the remarkable growth in the adoption of digital technologies across Indian businesses. He emphasized how technological advancements have empowered businesses, especially Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), enabling them to enhance efficiency and expand their global reach.

Sarajit Jha, Convenor of CII Jharkhand ICT, Startup, and Innovation Panel, and Chief Business Transformation and Business Solutions at TATA Steel, drew attention to the alarming rise of global cyber fraud, now a $300 billion industry. He spotlighted India's position, with 40% of global digital transactions occurring within its borders, making cybersecurity a critical priority. Jha stressed the need for heightened awareness, particularly among MSMEs, as a vital countermeasure against evolving cyber threats.

Shivam Kamani, Co-Convenor of CII ICT, Startup, and Innovation Panel, and Associate President at Sparx Technologies Pvt Ltd, echoed concerns about the escalating cybercrime menace facing both individuals and corporations. He emphasized the omnipresence of internet-connected tasks, with 99% of activities having some online component. Kamani underscored instances where MSMEs suffered substantial losses due to cybersecurity negligence and commended CII's proactive stance in organizing workshops to address this urgent need.

The workshop provided a platform for participants to engage with cybersecurity professionals, partake in interactive group activities, and glean insights into best practices in the cybersecurity domain. Eminent speakers, including  Mrinal K Pal, Chief IT Infra, Network, and Cybersecurity at Tata Steel Ltd;  Bhargo Dev Chakraborty, Network and IT Security Consultant at Skylink Communications; and  Vidya Shankar, DSP (Cyber Crime) at Jamshedpur, shared their expertise and perspectives on bolstering cybersecurity frameworks and combating cyber threats effectively.
