UPPSC postpones RO, ARO exams Yo hold PCS prelims on single day

Accepting the demands of aspirants, the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) on Thursday postponed the Review Officer and Assistant Review Officer exams, and announced that it will hold the Provincial Civil Services Preliminary Exam-2024 on the old pattern on a single day.

The PCS exam was to be held on December 7 and 8, while the RO/ARO exam was proposed on December 22 and 23. Now new dates will be announced.

The decision has been taken on the initiative of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who had earlier taken cognisance of the students’ protest.

The students recently expressed dissatisfaction with the scheduling of the PCS and other selection exams, and demanded that the PCS Preliminary Examination be conducted in a single day instead of multiple shifts.

Acknowledging these concerns, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed the UPPSC to engage in dialogue with the students and take appropriate action. Following this, the  commission, under the chief minister’s

The UPPSC also announced that it will form a committee on Review Officer (RO) and Assistant Review Officer (ARO) exams to ensure its transparency and fairness.

The committee for the RO and ARO exams will study all the aspects in detail and submit its report soon so that the purity and credibility of these examinations can be ensured.

“On the directives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the UPPSC has decided to postpone the RO and ARO exams and hold the PCS preliminary exam on the old pattern,” Commission Secretary Ashok Kumar said here outside the UPPSC office in Prayagraj.

“Conducting the exam on a single day will give the students confidence in transparency and fairness in the examination process. Also, the report of the committee constituted by the commission will further strengthen the integrity of future examinations,” he said.

“There is a wave of happiness among the students after this decision and they are praising this quick decision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath,” he added

Kumar said in view of the incidents of paper leaks in many parts of the country in recent months, the Uttar Pradesh government had decided to ensure the fairness and transparency of the selection examinations.

For this reason, the UPPSC had announced to conduct the proposed PCS and RO/ARO examinations in multiple shifts in December.

The announcement of conducting the PCS preliminary exam on a single day brought happiness to some candidates, but those preparing for the RO and ARO exams appeared a bit disappointed. The protesters said they would continue the agitation till a decision was taken on the RO and ARO exams.

Earlier on Thursday morning, a clash also took place between the protesting students and the policemen in Prayagraj. Policemen came in plain clothes to forcibly dispersed the protesting students. The students alleged that the policemen misbehaved with the girl student and also abused them.
