In order to give the local artists of Jharkhand who have been involved in creating video albums, short films and documentaries for the past several years, the MERATV Film Festival 2024 is being organised from December 20 to December 22 at Audrey House in the State capital.
Organised under the banner of Jharkhand’s first OTT platform MERATV, the 3- day film festival will showcase feature films, short films, documentaries and mobile films from across the country. As many as 40 select films will also be screened during the festival. The festival is being organised with an aim to provide a platform for Jharkhand’s artists and filmmakers to not only showcase their talent but also to gain insights in diverse topics, acquire technical expertise and share experiences.
“The three- day film festival will not only include film screenings but also feature panel discussions, camera displays and an art exhibition of Jharkhand’s traditional musical instruments. It will conclude with an award ceremony where cash prizes of up to Rs 5 lakh will be distributed,” said the organizer Kumar Vivek.
Eminent personalities from the film industry including Ritam Srivastava, Prabal Mahato, Akashaditya Lama and Vishal Verma, to name a few will also be participating in the event.
Films from various parts of the country like Mumbai, Kolkata, Bihar and Jharkhand have been received while entries for special screenings include Silver Gandhi- winner at SFRA Cannes and Yes Sir- winner at the Dadasaheb Phalke Film Festival.
“It is often observed that many challenges arise in releasing films after they are made. MERATV aims to resolve these issues and give a new direction to the Jharkhand Film industry. The MERATV Film Festival 2024 calls upon all artists of Jharkhand to actively participate in this event and make it a grand success. In the coming years this festival is poised to become a milestone for the film industry here,” added the organizer.
