Very little respite in cold conditions were witnessed as night temperature appreciated by 0.4 degree celsius and recorded at 4.2 degree on Saturday night while day temperature was at 24 degree celsius.
Pachmarhi recorded night temperature at 1 degree celsius and along with Pachmarhi Dindori also witnessed dew in the morning hours.
Reeling under a severe grip of intense cold conditions over half of the state's districts witnessed cold wave conditions on Sunday making people shiver even during the day. An alert has also been issued by the Met of severe cold in the state for the next two days as well.
Senior scientist of IMD (Meteorological Department) said, icy winds incursion from North India, which are intensely strong is causing the whole state to shiver. Similar weather will remain for the next two days.
Subtropical jet stream winds are blowing at a speed of 222 km per hour at an altitude of 12.6 km in West-North India, due to this, icy winds are coming in the state, due to which the temperature has dropped. On Saturday night, the mercury in Pachmarhi reached 1 degree.
Bhopal and Gwalior were colder than Pachmarhi. Among the big cities, the day mercury in Bhopal-Gwalior was recorded at 24.4 degree Celsius. 26.7 degrees were recorded in Indore, 27.5 degrees in Ujjain and 24.8 degrees in Jabalpur. The temperature in Sidhi-Malajkhand was 22.6 degrees, 24.7 degrees in Pachmarhi, 24.8 degrees in Damoh-Khajuraho and 24.6 degrees Celsius in Umaria.
