Even as the seat sharing and other modalities between the constituents of INDIA bloc are yet to be finalised, the leaders of the alliance in Uttarakhand met in Dehradun on Tuesday. The meeting chaired by the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara was also attended by representatives of civil society.
The speakers in the meeting expressed grave concern on the "murder" of the democracy and constitution by the BJP government. The leaders were unanimous in the view that the local issues should be raised prominently and with force . They said that the youth, farmers, women and labourers are affected by the policies of the BJP government. They decided that the alliance partners will hold joint programmes and protest meetings on January 26 and 30 in all parts of the State.
It was decided to hold Jan Gan Man Abhiyan and Jeetega Bharat Haregi Nafrat programmes on Republic Day. The leaders were unanimous that the road map at district level should be prepared by the alliance partners. A demonstration and March will also be held in Dehradun on Republic day.
For better coordination between the constituent parties and groups Sheespal Singh Bisht of Congress was made convenor of the State INDIA block.
The PCC president Karan Mahara said that BJP is determined to destroy all the established institutions of the country. He said the schemes such as Agnipath will make the borders weak. Mahara said that there is a thin line between religion and being communal which the BJP has crossed.
The meeting was attended by Kamla Pant and Nirmala Bisht of Uttarakhand Mahila Manch, state president of All India Kisan Sabha S S Sajwan, national council member of Communist Party of India (CPI), Samar Bhandari, national secretary of Samajwadi Party Satyanaryan Sacchan, state secretary of CPI ML Indresh Maikhuri, state secretary of CPI M Rajendra Negi and others.
