The court of Principal District and Sessions Judge Rajesh Sharan Singh, convicted and awarded life imprisonment to nine accused in a 2019 murder case.

The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on each convict. The convicts who have been sentenced in the murder case include Chandrabhushan Kumar alias Tunu, Devendra Prasad, Mahendra Prasad, Pradeep Prasad, Satyendra Prasad, Sandeep Prasad, Lal Deep Prasad, Nanhku alias Basant Prasad and Chandrashekhar Kumar, all residents of Ramakanda Bazar Tola of the Ramakanda police station in the district.

As per the prosecution, complainant Dipa Kumari said that on 23rd November 2019 at 5.15 pm, all accused persons came to her house armed with sticks, sickles, axes, and spears. All were angry. All were searching for her father Gopal Prasad Chourasiya.The main door of the house was closed. Then they broke the door with a sickle and entered inside. Chandrabhushan asked him about his father. When he did not tell, Devendra cut off his hand. When his father was not at home, everyone started searching for him.

Later, Sanjay Kumar of the village told that uncle Gopal had been murdered by cutting him with a sickle. The reason for the murder is said to be honor killing. 

Witnesses gave evidence that all the accused were standing in a group in Ramakanda market. At the same time, as soon as Gopal Prasad reached there on a motorcycle, everyone suddenly attacked him. He was murdered by slitting his throat. The reason for the incident was a love affair between Gopal Prasad's son Anish Kumar and the accused Mahendra Prasad's daughter. Both of them had eloped from home and got married.

The court convicted them on the basis of witnesses, evidence, postmortem report, inquiry report, confession statement and other documents and sentenced them to life imprisonment.
