Amid former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on his third day of padyatra across the national Capital ahead of the state elections early next year, Delhi BJP President, MPs, MLAs, Councilors, and office bearers  celebrated Raksha Bandhan in 291 slum and service colonies on Sunday while exuberating confidence of winning the state elections with the support of slum dwellers.

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva celebrated Raksha Bandhan with the sisters of Nehru Camp, a sewa basti in Vinod Nagar, located on NH 24 in East Delhi and offered sweets and symbolic gifts to the sisters. “As always, Delhi BJP leaders and workers are celebrating Raksha Bandhan this time with the brothers and sisters living in Delhi's slum colonies. We have always received love from the slum dwellers, and we are striving to strengthen our relationships,” he said.

With a few months away from the election battle in the city, he said, “The BJP has always raised its voice to improve the lives of brothers and sisters living in Delhi’s slum and rehabilitation colonies and will continue to do so.”

North west Delhi MP and State General Secretary Yogendra Chandolia celebrated Raksha Bandhan with the sisters of the slum cluster at Sanjay Camp Samaypur Badli while New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj celebrated with the brothers and sisters of the slum cluster at Arjun Das Camp, Laxmibai Nagar.

“I participated in the “Slum Rakshabandhan Utsav” program in Arjun Das Camp, Laxmibai Nagar under the Slum Expansion Campaign and celebrated Raksha Bandhan festival collectively with the brothers and sisters of the slum cluster. The slum dwellers have decided to bring BJP to power in Delhi,” Swaraj said.

South Delhi MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri celebrated the festival with the sisters of the slum cluster at JJ Camp Prasad Nagar in Badarpur. “Celebrated the festival with my sisters and took a pledge to protect their rights,” he said, adding that amid the bad governance by AAP, the BJP will continue to raise the voices of people in the national Capital and continue to struggle for their rights.

Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal celebrated the festival in the slum cluster at Dairywala Bagh, Paschim Vihar and expressed his happiness to be part of the celebration as he promised the women to work for development projects in the slums. Other party leaders including Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Vijender Gupta, Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Municipal Corporation Raja Iqbal Singh, New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) Vice Chairman Satish Upadhyay, State general secretary Vishnu Mittal and Delhi Media Chief Praveen Shankar Kapoor also celebrated the festival in different parts of the city.
