The Director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhopal and Acting Director of AIIMS, Gorakhpur, Prof Ajay Singh visited and inspected Mahayogi Gorakhnath University and Arogyadham in Gorakhpur on Thursday.
Describing the facilities at Guru Gorakhnath Medical College Hospital and Research Centre (Gorakhnath Medical College) as ‘excellent’, Prof Singh stated that AIIMS, Bhopal and Gorakhpur, will collaborate with the college to provide top medical care to patients in Purvanchal.
Visibly impressed by the campus, the state-of-the-art medical facilities at the college’s hospital, and the work culture at Mahayogi Gorakhnath University, the director emphasised that collaborating with the university would lead to significant achievements.
Prof Singh announced that AIIMS, Bhopal and Gorakhpur, will provide live ICU services to Gorakhnath Medical College, adding that with the combined efforts of AIIMS Bhopal, Gorakhpur, and the college’s hospital, even better patient care will be delivered.
Prof Singh announced that AIIMS, Bhopal and Gorakhpur, will soon provide training in new techniques to the medical, nursing, and paramedical staff, as well as students of Gorakhnath Medical College.
He stated that this training will directly benefit more patients in the future.
During the AIIMS director’s inspection, Vice-Chancellor of Mahayogi Gorakhnath University Dr Surinder Singh informed him that Medanta Hospital is also linked to Gorakhnath Medical College for live ICU services. Critical patient treatment has already begun, and a 24-hour surgery emergency service is operational.
The vice-chancellor further highlighted that in recent days, two complex cancer surgeries had been successfully performed, while an 18-bed dialysis unit is also running at the facility.
Upon his arrival, Prof Singh was accorded a warm welcome by Dr Pradeep Kumar Rao, Registrar of Mahayogi Gorakhnath University; Dr Arvind Singh Kushwaha, Principal of the Medical College; and Dr Giridhar Vedantam, Principal of the Ayurveda College.
Also present were Dr DS Ajitha, Dean of Nursing and Paramedical Faculty; Dr Sunil Kumar Singh, Dean of Allied Health Sciences; Dr Vimal Kumar Dubey, Dean of Agricultural Science; Dr Rohit Kumar Srivastava, Head of the Paramedical Department; Dr Shashikant Singh, Head of the Pharmacy Department; and Dr Tarun Shyam, Head of the Commerce Department, among others.
