Now the scope of settlement of government pond in Jharkhand will be limited to the Panchayat level only. Now the people of the same Panchayat will get a chance to bid in the government pond under the Panchayat and then do fish farming. Now people of other districts will not be able to participate in the settlement of government pond in any Panchayat. Very soon a rule will be made regarding this. The state's Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperative Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey has given these guidelines to the departmental officers during the surprise inspection.
Tirkey suddenly went out for a surprise inspection in Ranchi on Monday evening. During this, she made a surprise inspection of the fisheries directorate centre, fish park in Doranda and the fisheries research centre in Dhurva. She was very angry on seeing the mismanagement during this time. Seeing the dirt spread in the fish park, use of polythene, and the problems faced by the visitors, Tirkey has directed to improve it within 10 days.
During the surprise inspection, the Minister also checked the attendance register. The workers who remain absent during working hours have also been directed to improve their work culture.
The Minister has sought district-wise data of government ponds across the state from the departmental officers. There are about 12 thousand 580 government ponds in the state. Out of which about 1 thousand government ponds are in Ranchi. Tirkey has directed the departmental officers to now make such a rule in which the government pond falling under the Panchayat can be given to the cooperative society of the same Panchayat. No other district should get the opportunity to settle the pond. By doing so, employment can be provided to local people by linking them with fish farming.
The Minister has also instructed to make amendments in the requirement of 300 people for a cooperative society. The minister has asked to give benefits to the people of the village by forming small cooperative societies. During the surprise inspection, it was learnt that the target of releasing 2500 lakh fish seeds was set this year. Against this target, only 1646 lakh seeds could be distributed. The least amount of 60 lakh seeds has been distributed in Lohardaga. Tirkey has asked to increase it and submit a report by tomorrow.
There is also a preparation to link the women self-help groups associated with JSLPS in fish farming. Instructions have been given to link the women self-help groups of Ranchi and Hazaribagh districts with fish farming first
Tirkey also visited the training center running in the Fisheries Research Center located in Dhurva. The minister took various kinds of information from the women taking training on fish farming. During the information, it was learned that the women who returned after taking training from the training center told other women of the village how employment opportunities can be obtained from fish farming. In the Fisheries Research Center, information on fish farming is given to farmers from all over the state. She also advised the farmers participating in the training to join fish farming, calling it a means of better employment.
