30-year-old widow poisoned by in-laws over property dispute, dies

Fuelled with property dispute a 30-year-old widow was forcibly poisoned by her in-laws in Nazeerabad area; four persons including a woman who absconded after the incident have been booked in the case.

According to the police, 30-year-old Thappi Bai is a resident of village Jamila. Her husband died four years ago. Since the death of her husband, the woman was demanding her share in the property from her in-laws.

Due to this land dispute she was forcibly poisoned by her in-laws on Saturday. The woman was admitted to the hospital for treatment in a critical condition, where her condition remains critical. The police have registered a case of attempted murder against the accused and started searching for them.

There was a dispute over 20 acres of land of the woman's family. Regarding this, on Saturday, the woman's mother-in-law Nanni Bai Gurjar, father-in-law Kuber Singh, brother-in-law Meharban and uncle-in-law Inder forcibly held her and poisoned her. After the incident, all the accused fled.

The people in the neighborhood admitted the woman to the hospital for treatment in a critical condition. The hospital administration informed the police about the incident. The police reached the spot and registered a case against the accused on the basis of the woman's statements.

At present, the police are conducting raids to arrest the accused. The police say that the accused will be caught soon. The investigation of the case is going on.

In a separate incident of the same nature a 80-year-old man died after getting injured in a scuffle over land dispute in Gunga area.

The elderly man Ramprasad fell on the ground in the fight and was taken to the hospital, where the doctors declared him dead. The police are waiting for the post-mortem report. After this, a case will be registered.

Station in-charge Harishankar Verma said that Ramprasad was a resident of Maholi, and had land behind his house. The family living in front of him has land adjacent to it. There was a dispute going on between the two families for many days regarding the ridge built on it.

On Friday also, both the families came face to face. The dispute increased so much that the neighbor living in front pushed  Ramprasad due to which he fell on the ground and failed to get up for a long time.
