At least five Indian soldiers were killed and several others received injuries after the vehicle in which they were travelling rolled down in a deep gorge in the Balnoi sector of the frontier Poonch district on Tuesday.
The soldiers were on operational duty at the time of the mishap. Initial reports suggested the army vehicle skidded off the road and rolled down a deep gorge after the driver lost control of the vehicle.
Confirming the same Nagrota-based White Knight Corps in a post on X said, “All ranks of White Knight Corps extend their deepest condolences on the tragic loss of five brave soldiers in a vehicle accident during operational duty in the Poonch sector”.
According to statement the vehicle, part of an army convoy, veered off the road near the Line of Control (LoC). At the time of filing the report, the rescue operations were going on, and the injured personnel were receiving medical care in a nearby hospital.
