Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake laid a wreath and paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat, in Delhi on December 16. This is the Sri Lankan President's first State visit to India.
“Today, I paid my respects to Mahatma Gandhi at his memorial. I laid a wreath, observed a moment of silence, signed the Visitor's Book, and planted an Ashoka Pendula plant at Gandhi Darshan. A truly humbling experience,” Dissanayake shared on X.
Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, L Murugan, was also present with him. In a post on X, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated, “President @anuradisanayake of Sri Lanka paid his respects to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat this morning. Bapu’s timeless values of truth and non-violence continue to inspire humanity all over the world.”
