A severe fertilizer shortage in Madhya Pradesh (MOP has led to the harassment of farmers across the state. Farmers are coming on the streets protesting against the growing shortage of fertilizers, while there have been reports of farmers committing suicide in want for fertilizers.
One such incident was reported in Guna district on Sunday, the deceased Bhagwati Kirar from Jhagar village, before taking this extreme step, made a video narrating his ordeal he faced with the shortage of fertilizers and blackmarketing of fertilizers in the market.
Even in this situation, the state government is a mute spectator, instead of taking action towards solving the problem, the government has been busy in the by-polls. At present, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is busy in electioneering in Maharashtra and Jharkhand.
The farmers are facing problems due to blackmarketing of fertilizers as sowing has started for wheat, chana, masoor and other crops of Rabi season.
The MP Congress has been raising this problems. Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly Umang Singhar wrote a letter to the CM requesting to solve the problem but to no avail.
Last month, former CM Digvijay Singh and PCC Chief Jitu Patwari had in a press conference alleged that the state government is doing nothing on the shortage of fertilizers in the State.
In a ridiculous statement, MP Agriculture Minister Endal Singh Kansana said that Russia-Ukraine war is the reason behind shortage of fertilizers in the State. However, he had assured that the State government would bit let this problem continue for long.
