Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva on Thursday accused the AAP Kejriwal government of a disgraceful fraud amounting to nearly Rs 250 crores regarding providing shelter homes to the poor through Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB). It is a department of the Delhi government responsible for assisting the poor and helpless by providing them with shelter homes.
Sachdeva emphasized that this is a noble humanitarian service, but a major scam is being perpetrated through the collusion of government officials and their associated MLAs.
According to DUSIB’s regulations, each shelter home is allocated salaries for five to six caretaking staff, depending on capacity, which is paid to contractor NGOs. However, a BJP team investigation uncovered significant fraud in this system, he said.
In each shelter, payments are made for five-six caretakers, while only two are actually present. The BJP team’s investigation found three-four ghost employees in every shelter.
Delhi BJP President stated that no work occurs in Arvind Kejriwal’s government without brokerage, bribery, or commission.
The BJP’s legal team discovered that eight major NGOs are contracted for shelter home maintenance in Delhi. Most shelters employ only two-three workers, yet salaries for five-six are disbursed.
Further investigation revealed that the same staff names are registered across different shelter homes, with identical Aadhaar numbers and bank accounts.
Whether it’s the shelter at Delhi Gate, Lahori Gate, Turkman Gate, or Mangolpuri, a single Aadhaar card is being used to draw three-five salaries.
This entire matter involves an alleged scam of approximately Rs 250 crore. We have requested an investigation by the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) and have also filed a complaint with the Lokayukta, he said.
We demand an investigation into the roles of former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the concerned ministers, MLAs, DUSIB officials, and all others involved. Sachdeva mentioned that the NGOs entrusted with this responsibility are selected by the Delhi government.
Currently, there is rampant corruption in every department of the Delhi government. Just yesterday, we exposed the issue of fake caste certificates, and today, such scams have come to light, he said.
He cited an example of an employee, Vijay Kumar, associated with Jyoti Samaj Seva Sansthan, who is listed as working at five different locations simultaneously, all linked to the same Aadhaar card. Five salaries are being deposited into a single account, which are then allegedly returned as commissions to leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party.
