Police on Tuesday arrested an accused from outside a Gurugram club in connection with a crude bomb blast outside two clubs in Gurugram in the early hours of Tuesday, officials said.
The accused was identified as Sachin a resident of District Meerut in Uttar Pradesh. The police have also recovered two crude bombs and weapons.
According to the police the incident occurred around 5.15 am on Tuesday outside two clubs located in Sector-29 area of Gurugram.
It is being said that this incident was committed to demand extortion.
During preliminary investigation, it was found that at the time of the incident, the accused was in a state of intoxication and 02 cotton bombs had been thrown by him and 02 more bombs were to be thrown by him, but before he could throw more bombs, Gurugram Police arrested the accused along with the bombs.
However, no casualties were reported in the incident.
Soon after the incident, Vikas Arora, Commissioner of Gurugram Police, visited the crime scene. The bomb disposal team of Gurugram Police was also called to the crime scene and the 02 live bombs recovered from the possession of the accused were defused by the bomb disposal team.
In the incident, a scooty and a board have suffered some damage, police said.
"The accused is being thoroughly questioned by the Crime Branch and Special Task Force (STF) team of the Haryana Police for further investigation," Sandeep Kumar, spokesperson of the Gurugram Police said.
Gurugram Police appeals to the general public that if any suspicious person or suspicious object is seen anywhere in Gurugram, then immediately inform Gurugram Police control room number 112, 0124-22216010 and 124-2316100, he said.
Recently 5 hotels in Gurugram had also received bomb threats. The threat sent through email has created panic in all the hotels. It has been told that the hotels which have received the threat are located at five different locations of the city.
Police had said that, threats were sent through an emails to 5 hotels located in different areas of Gurugram city. On receiving the information, Gurugram police reached the spot and conducted a search operation in all the hotels with the bomb squad.
During the search operation, the police did not find any suspicious object from anywhere. After this, the police declared these threats as fake. Gurugram police is tracing the IP address of the person who sent the email. Further probe related to the matter is underway, police said.
