Preparations underway for Ram Lalla’s Pran Pratishtha

Wednesday, 14 June 2023 | PNS | Lucknow

Preparations are in full swing for the highly-anticipated ‘Pran Pratishtha Mahotsav’ (idol installation ceremony) of Ram Lalla at the magnificent Ram temple in Ayodhya. The likely date of installation is January 22, 2024, which is considered to be the most auspicious day.

However, the discussions are underway regarding possible dates for the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony. The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has sought the expertise of seven astrologers to determine an auspicious time. According to sources, four auspicious dates fall between January 15 and January 25.

An invitation letter has been sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on behalf of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. However, as of now, no response has been received from the Prime Minister’s Office.

Apart from Makar Sankranti, January 21 & 22 are considered favourable dates. January 22 holds particular significance as it coincides with the final day of Shankabhari Navratri and Anandayoga.

January 21 aligns with the auspicious time of Pratapati Yoga and Putrada Ekadashi. Since Republic Day celebrations are held on January 26 in New Delhi, ‘Pran Pratishtha’ on January 25 is not feasible, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust member Anil Mishra said.

Mishra said that significant progress had been made in the construction of the ground floor of the Ram temple, with completion reaching 85 percent. The roofing work for the ground floor was also 90 percent complete.

“The upcoming tasks include the installation of floors, windows, and doors, which are expected to commence shortly. By October 2023, the ground floor, including the sanctum sanctorum, will be ready,” Mishra said.

“Expert sculptors are diligently crafting the idol that will be consecrated in the temple. Three idols are being carved on separate stones, out of which the best one will be chosen for consecration, while the remaining two will also be given a place of honor within the temple complex,” he added.

Preparations are also underway for the Pran Pratishtha Mahotsav, which is expected to span over seven days. The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is in the process of forming a 10-member committee to oversee the event.

The event will be celebrated throughout the country, with plans being made to organise rituals in every temple and monastery. The festivities will encompass various rituals and worship ceremonies, including Vastu Puja.

The Pran Pratishtha Mahotsav of Ramlala will be broadcast live across the country, allowing millions of devotees to witness the grand event from the comfort of their homes. Festivities are also being planned in temples and monasteries nationwide, ensuring widespread participation in the joyous occasion.
