Now, 5G services have been introduced for consumers in Odisha but despite such advanced digital communications technology, mobile services are yet to be widespread in the Gajapati district. Especially, the interior and far-fetched parts of Gajapati district are out of the ambit of mobile coverage.
The people in these areas are facing a lot of inconveniences, particularly for calling an ambulance for emergency services and studies of students. The villagers have to climb hills in search of a mobile network, involving possibilities of them falling down or getting injured. Now the academic session has started and from anganwadi centres to schools and colleges, all institutions have opened with students busy in their study. However, at this crucial time, scores of villages in the district have been deprived of hassle-free mobile network coverage. Banking services and other essential services providers are also badly hit due to lack of mobile services and internet.
MP Brahmapur Chandrashekhar Sahu had assured of installation of 500 mobile towers in Gajapati district when he had last visited the district and was apprised of the issue. But the work is yet to be started. Villagers in Kirama, Sundardango, Betarsing, Tangili, Parimala of Nuagada block who are facing the worst have demanded immediate steps to provide mobile connectivity to them.
