In a shocking incident reported from Moradabad, a newborn girl died after she fell on the ground as eunuchs tried to snatch her from her parents to extort money in the name of ‘celebration’.

The girl’s mother has lodged a complaint at Dilari police station. The police have sent the girl’s body for post-mortem and started investigating the case.

Reports said that the wife of Saddam Ali of Budhanpur village had given birth to a daughter two months ago. The couple named her Anayra and everyone at home called her Bhuri. The girl’s father Saddam has gone to Haridwar for some work. On the fateful day, the newborn’s uncle, a labourer, had gone for his work while her grandmother had also gone to the neighbourhood. Only the mother and daughter were present in the house when some eunuchs arrived to congratulate the parents and take money for blessing the newborn. The eunuchs picked up the girl and started demanding money from her mother.

However, the woman took the child from the eunuchs, saying there was no elder present at home right and asked them to come later. It is alleged that the eunuchs became angry at not receiving any money after the birth of a baby girl and started snatching the newborn, due to which she fell on the ground and died on the spot.

Dilari police station in-charge Himanshu Singh said that on the complaint of the woman, the girl’s body had been sent for post-mortem.

When the villagers were interrogated on the spot, it was revealed that the eunuchs had come to the house. How the girl died is being investigated. 

Further action will be taken based on evidence.
