A Maoist couple carrying a collective reward of Rs 2 lakhs on their heads surrendered on Thursday to security forces in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh.
Nanda and his wife Some turned themselves in, citing disappointment with the Maoist ideology, Sukma Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavhan said.
Nanda was the Konta Local Organisation Squad (LOS) as well as Area Agriculture team member.
The couple carried a reward of Rs 1 lakh each on their head. Some joined the Naxalites as a Bal Sangham member in 2012 and Nanda joined the Maoist group as a militia member in 2015.
They were involved in the 2020 Minpa ambush and the 2021 Tekalguda ambush, Chavhan added.
