To create a cleaner and healthier environment by engaging citizens across the city in various cleanliness activities, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh hosted "Jashan-e-Swachhata", a flashmob, at the plaza, Sector 17, on Friday during Swachhata Pakhwara, which is a fortnight-long awareness drive from 15th September to 2nd October.
Anup Gupta, Mayor, launched the 15-day activity campaign by organizing a flashmob during which 250 students from various colleges and schools participated. Chandigarh Challenger's team leader, Rohit, led the event.
Briefing about the 15-day-long activity campaign, MC Commissioner Anindita Mitra expressed her enthusiasm for the Swachhata Pakhwada 2023 initiative and the upcoming Indian Swachhata League and stated that the Swachhata Pakhwada 2023 is a significant step towards creating a cleaner and healthier environment.
She said that MCC is committed to motivate and inspire citizens to actively participate in cleanliness activities and promote sustainable practices to work together to make Chandigarh a shining example for the entire nation. She encouraged Citizens to work towards a Garbage Free India and invited all citizens to join hands and actively participate in Swachhata Pakhwada 2023. She exhorted Citizens to showcase their commitment towards a cleaner future and build Chandigarh's reputation as a model for cleanliness."
The Commissioner said that as part of the Swachhata Pakhwada initiative, MC Chandigarh has prepared an extensive 15-day program to inspire and motivate citizens towards cleanliness and hygiene. Chandigarh- the city beautiful, known for its remarkable efforts in maintaining cleanliness, is all set to defend its title as the reigning champions of ISL 1.0 (Indian Swachhata League).
