Kejriwal: Centre has destroyed well-running fleet of trains

Monday, 19 June 2023 | Staff Reporter | New Delhi

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday came down heavily on the  BJP at the Centre over the alleged worsening condition of Indian Railways, saying the Government has destroyed the well-running fleet of trains.

Kejriwal claimed that AC and sleeper coaches of trains have become worse than the general compartments as the passengers with allotted berths don’t get adequate space to sit or sleep.

He further questioned how the saffron party can run the country if it is unable to run the railway system.

Kejriwal’s tweet was met with a sarcastic reply by the BJP, which attacked him over the condition of the Delhi Transport Corporation buses.

Kejriwal retweeted several tweets wherein people had complained about air-conditioned and sleeper coaches being overcrowded with people who did not have reservation.

“They destroyed the fleet of the well-running railways. Today, even if you take reservation of AC coach, you will not get a seat to sit or sleep. AC and sleeper coaches are worse than general,” the AAP convener said in a tweet in Hindi.

“They do not know how to run the government. They don’t understand at all. This is an illiterate government. It is ruining every field,” Kejriwal added.

In another tweet, the Delhi CM, without taking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s name, said, “The one who cannot run trains, how will he run the country?” AAP Leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh highlighted the abysmal state of the railways in a press conference. He also raised concerns over the lack of seat availability, deteriorating passenger facilities, and the mishandling of accidents, with subsequent cover-ups using CBI inquiries.

AAP leader further highlighted the dire situation of railway facilities and safety.  “Despite purchasing tickets, passengers are left without seats, forced to travel like animals. Reservations are unavailable, trains are scarce, and frustrating delays increase. When accidents occur, the BJP government conveniently orchestrates a CBI inquiry to cover up their negligence.
