With the nationwide commencement of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra- a transformative initiative aimed at reaching the unreached and ensuring effective outreach of government schemes- the Governor Lt General ( Retd) Gurmit Singh flagged of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra van from Raj Bhavan in Dehradun on Wednesday. Addressing the programme, he said that that the government has taken a pledge to make India a developed nation by 2047 and this sankalp yatra is meant to make a route for developed Bharat by 2047. Notably, in Uttarakhand, the Viksit Bharat Yatra has been inaugurated in two districts—Dehradun and Udham Singh Nagar-which have substantial tribal population. The Governor further said that the yatra was being launched on the day observed as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas marking the birth anniversary of Adivasi legend Bhagwan Birsa Munda. He spoke of the monumental role played by Munda in the tribal awakening movement. Referring to the speech of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Jharkahnd’s Khunti, the Governor said that women, farmers, youth and middle class and poor of India are the principal pillars on which developed Bharat would be founded. He also wished the people of Jharkhand on their statehood day.
In Udham Singh Nagar, the State cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi flagged off the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra van from Sitarganj. While addressing those gathered at the programme, he said that this yatra would reach the last man of the society so that people are aware of the welfare schemes being rolled out and run by the government of India. He further said that this yatra is meant to pave the path for developed Bharat by 2047.
While dwelling on the significance of this yatra, a senior State government officer said that its focus is reaching out to people and creating awareness about the slew of welfare schemes dished out by the government like sanitation facilities, essential financial services, electricity connections, access to LPG cylinders, housing for the poor, food security, proper nutrition, reliable healthcare and clean drinking water so as to enable them to derive benefits from them. He further said that the yatra aims to ensure saturation and publicity of the government–launched welfare schemes in 18 gram panchayats in Dehradun district and 38 gram panchayats in Udham Singh Nagar districts.
