With the aim to connect the world with Ayodhya through the Indian Vedic Research Institute, the Yogi Adityanath government has decided to grant international status to Ayodhya Research Institute which has been operating under the Culture Department since August 18, 1986.
“The objective of the government behind the move is to connect all those countries where Ramayana or Ramlila are staged and bind them in the thread of cultural unity. The institute will also facilitate employment to the people associated with this art,” a government spokesman said.
With the establishment of the International Ayodhya Ramayana and Vedic Research Institute in Ayodhya, the literature related to Lord Ram from all over the world will be studied to understand its complexities.
“It is believed that the prevalent literature on Ram Katha around the world has been compiled by different scholars. There is a lot in it which requires research, so that efforts can be made to solve the mysteries related to Lord Ram and Ramayana,” the spokesman said.
“Not only this, in order to facilitate cultural exchange, Ramlila of other countries will be staged in Ayodhya and the cultural heritage of Ayodhya will be promoted throughout the world,” he said.
Ramlila is organised in about 40 countries of the world. In this way, the artistes associated with staging the Ramlila in these 40 countries will be introduced to each other’s cultures and provided an international level platform. This will also provide employment opportunities to these artistes.
The research papers of the International Ayodhya Ramayana and Vedic Research Institute will also be disseminated so that people can read and understand the story of Lord Ram. Arrangements will be made to ensure that these literary works reach not only India but also other parts of the world through the Sahitya Sansthan.
To make the International Ayodhya Ramayana and Vedic Research Institute more effective, it will be connected with various universities and institutions in the country and abroad by signing memorandums of understanding (MoUs). This will help connect students studying other subjects to Lord Ram’s legacy. Universities and institutes, especially those which provide special education on religious literature, will be given priority.
