As many as 17 proposals were approved in a cabinet meeting chaired by chief minister Yogi Adityanath here on Tuesday morning.

Power Minister AK Sharma and Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi gave detailed information while briefing mediapersons later in the afternoon. Shahi said that the expansion route of Vindhyavasini Corridor would be widened.

The Council of Ministers has authorised the chief minister to take further decisions in the matter. Apart from this, the government has decided to acquire land for tourism development around Ranipur Tiger Reserve.

The Mission Vatsalya Yojana of the Government of India has also been adopted to benefit the destitute children. The maintenance amount being given under the Vatsalya Yojana has been increased from Rs 2,000 to 4,000, Shahi said. The Child Protection Scheme has also been renamed as Vatsalya Yojana.

Shahi said that financial approval has been received for widening and strengthening of Shahabad-Rampur-Bazpur road (State Highway 144) in Rampur district. The total length will be 57.592 km.

 The total estimated for the work is over Rs 205.35 crore. This route starts from Rampur Shahabad and goes up to Jim Corbett in Uttarakhand.

The cabinet also approved the proposal regarding the demolition of the dilapidated buildings of Pratapgarh Autonomous Medical College in connection with the Centrally-aided Medical College Scheme.

A proposal was also cleared in connection with the transfer of the land selected for the construction of the District Jail in Kushinagar to the Prisons department. The jail will be able to accommodate 1,000 undertrials at a time. Along with this, an amount of Rs 184.94 crore has been approved for the construction of a jail in Hathras district. The proposal regarding the establishment of TS Mishra University in Lucknow in the private sector has also been approved.
