Newly elected MLAs felicitates HP CM

Shimla: The Association of newly-elected MLAs of Himachal Pradesh met the Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and greeted him on his birthday on Tuesday. Association president Kewal Singh Pathania said that the Chief Minister and the present State Government is determined for balanced and equitable progress of all the constituencies and would leave no stone unturned to ensure the growth and prosperity of the State. The Association also apprised the Chief Minister about various issues and problems being faced by the newly-elected MLAs. Sukhu assured all possible help and cooperation to the Association.

Punjab CM to handover appointment letters to 219 clerks of School Edu Dept today

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will hand over the appointment letters to the newly-appointed 219 clerks of the School Education Department on Wednesday. The School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Tuesday said that the recruitment process of these clerks has been completed by Punjab State Services Selection Board, and the recruitment process is ongoing to strengthen the state’s school education and provide world class education to children.

Punjab School Edu Dept opens portal till Mar 31 for general transfers of teachers

Chandigarh: Punjab School Education Department has opened a portal to receive the applications for general transfers of teachers in the State from Tuesday. School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Tuesday said that the teachers, willing to get transferred, can apply online on the Department’s e-Punjab portal from March 28 to 31, 2023. These transfers will be made as per the teacher transfer policy of 2019 and the revised policy of 2020, and the transfer requests will only be accepted online.

NCC cadets, NSS volunteers are society’s ideal disciplined youth: Guv

Chandigarh: Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatraya on Tuesday said that to make the country strong and secure, every youth should come forward to serve the country and society by taking training as a cadet of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and as a volunteer of the National Service Scheme (NSS). Dattatraya, addressing as the chief guest during the state-level felicitation ceremony of NCC cadets and NSS volunteers who participated in the Republic Day Parade-2023, said that they are an ideal disciplined youth for the society, who are dedicated to the nation.

Nod to several developmental projects to give facelift to Rajpura

Chandigarh: To give a facelift to the Rajpura town, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday gave approval to several development projects including Sports Stadiums, Aam Aadmi Clinic, yoga facility, and others to be completed in the coming days. Mann, chairing a meeting of PEPSU Township Development Board at his office, said that the historic town Rajpura will be spruced up to restore its pristine glory. The Board’s budget has been approved wherein an income of Rs 19.32 crore and expenditure of Rs 7.19 has been estimated.

Employees’ legitimate demands will be met shortly: Health Minister

Chandigarh: Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh on Tuesday called a special meeting of various employees unions at the Director Health office in Chandigarh. The Minister, along with Director Health and Family Welfare Dr Ranjeet Singh Ghotra, Director Health Services (FW) Dr Ravinderpal Kaur, and Director ESI Dr Seema, said that the purpose to hold this meeting was to understand their grievances in a better manner, so that a sincere effort could be made to resolve their issues without any delay.

Lecture on ‘Gender Issues and Policing’

Chandigarh: Punjab Police Academy, Phillaur, director Anita Punj on Tuesday delivered a special lecture on ‘Gender Issues and Policing’ at Panjab University’s Centre for Police Administration. Interacting with the students, Punj said: “Gender is a societal construction which not only decides roles and responsibilities of men and women but also their access to resources and opportunities.” She emphasized that gender issues are impacting the policing adversely and can only be addressed by doing gender sensitization of police by having police interface with women and by having women in police Criminal Justice System is working hard to address the issue of gender.

91 Covid-19 cases in Haryana

Chandigarh: Haryana on Tuesday reported 91 fresh COVID-19 cases during the last 24 hours. Most of the new cases were from NCR districts of Gurugram, and Faridabad, with 57 reported from Gurugram and 11 from Faridabad, followed by nine from Panchkula, six from Ambala, and one each from Panipat and Sonipat. Total 41 Covid-19 patients recovered from the disease. So far, 10,57,299 COVID-19 cases reported in the State while 10,46,255 recoveries, 307 active cases, and 10,714 deaths.

Season I of ‘Ek Kavi Anek Kavitayein’ radio show ends

Chandigarh: Panjab University’s community radio station — Jyotirgamaya, 91.2 MHz — successfully completed 52 episodes of their popular programme ‘Ek Kavi Anek Kavitayein’ –conceptualized and presented by Prof Archana R Singh from PU’s School of Communication Studies – on March 27, 2023; marking the end of Season I. The programme was broadcasted every Monday for the past year and ran without missing a single episode — even during vacations, examinations, and other exigencies in keeping with the tradition of the media. The concept of the programme was to shed light on a famous poet from India — whether Hindi, Urdu or even English — and recite his or her poems.

‘PCSK9 the most recent prognostic marker for cardiac diseases’

Chandigarh: Addressing the gathering during three-day Ayurveda festival at Shri Dhanwantri Ayurvedic College and Hospital Sector 46, Chandigarh, Dr Alka Goyal (MD Biochemistry), senior resident in Government Medical College and Rajindra Hospital Patiala, on Tuesday said that PCSK9 (Proprotein Covertase Subtilisin/Kevin type 9) is the most recent prognostic marker for cardiac diseases. “Its inhibitors are evolocumab, alirocumab are under trial for the most advanced treatment to reduce the severity of cardiac diseases,” she added.
