Chandigarh unveils BIRBAL — a revolutionary Chatbot for citizen services
Chandigarh: To provide efficient and user-friendly citizen services, Chandigarh Smart City Limited (CSCL) on Friday launched BIRBAL — an innovative Chatbot aimed at transforming citizen-centric services. CSCL CEO Anindita Mitra, after formally launching the initiative, said that the interactive chat-based interface merged all major citizen services provided by the Chandigarh Administration and Municipal Corporation Chandigarh into one seamless platform. Its primary objective is to provide accurate information and guide citizens towards the appropriate resources. Citizens can interact with BIRBAL using keywords, predefined questions, and even voice commands as it has features like voice assistance, live agent support, and AI-based response updates, said the CEO.
PSCRPC announces to start awareness campaign across Punjab
Moga: Punjab State Child Rights Protection Commission will soon be launching an awareness campaign across the state wherein teachers, parents, and general public will be made aware of every aspect related to child protection. The campaign will start from Moga district, said the Commission’s chairman Kanwardeep Singh on Friday while addressing an awareness function at the local ISF College of Pharmacy. He said that this is the first time that the PSCRPC has made an effort to launch this campaign at the ground level. During this awareness campaign, the priority will be given to spreading awareness about the POCSO Act, Juvenile Justice Act, Child Marriage Act, Right to Education Act, Safe Vahan Scheme, Cyber Crime, and other aspects.
Appointment letters given to 13 Section Officers
Chandigarh: Punjab Finance, Planning, Excise and Taxation Minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Friday handed over appointment letters to 13 Section Officers, who have recently cleared the SAS examination. Cheema said that the recruitment process of appointing another 52 candidates of Section Officers by Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) and 53 candidates of Assistant Treasurer by the Subordinate Services Selection Board, Punjab is almost complete, and the appointment letters will be handed over to these candidates soon.
Punjab VB nabs SMO, BAMS doctor for taking Rs 15k bribe from chemist
Chandigarh: Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Friday arrested Sahnewal Senior Medical Officer Dr Poonam Goel, and BAMS doctor Dr Gaurav Jain — both posted in the Community Health Centre (CHC) Sahnewal in Ludhiana district — while taking bribe of Rs 15,000. Spokesperson said that both the doctors have been arrested on a complaint lodged by Kulwinder Singh, a resident of Guru Arjun Dev Nagar, Sahnewal. The complainant alleged that Dr Goel threatened to seal his shop and register a case against him for selling medicines without license and running an illegal pathological laboratory as per report by Dr Jain. And to settle the matter, Rs one lakh was demanded, but the deal was struck at Rs 20,000.
Govt’s transparent system saves Rs 72 cr in 55 road works
Chandigarh: Punjab Public Works and Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO on Friday said that the tenders floated recently for the upgradation of roads by the Public Works Department (PWD) evoked large participation and competition resulting in an overall savings of Rs 72 crore (about 21 percent) by allotting of 55 road works of about 430 km plan roads at the cost of Rs 270 crore against the estimated cost of Rs 342 crore. “Transparent and efficient working of the Punjab government has been inspiring confidence among contractors and vendors as they know that they will not have to pay any bribes to anyone; and only those, who can deliver maximum quality output at minimum cost, will get the contract,” he said.

Minister hands over appointment letters to candidates on compassionate ground
