Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety (CCRS), Lucknow, Janak Kumar Garg conducted a safety inspection of the five km long up/down line and newly-constructed seven km bypass line of the doubled section between Bhatni-Pivkol stations under the Varanasi Division of North Eastern Railway (NER) on Wednesday. Later, the CCRS successfully completed the full speed trial on the route at 100 kmph.
Accompanied by Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) SC Srivastava, Principal Executive Director (ED) of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited ( RVNL) Kamal Nayan, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM),Varanasi Division, Vineet Kumar Srivastava and many other senior officers of NER and RVNL, Garg started his inspection from Bhatni Junction, inspecting newly-constructed station panel with modern equipment, relay room, integrated power supply unit room, route relay interlocking, platform clearance, overhead clearance of foot over bridge (FOB) and exit passage, new equipment installed in the station and changes in station working rules.
After a thorough inspection of Bhatni station, the CCRS started the inspection of Bhatni-Pivkol railway section with a push trolley. Reaching a level crossing gate, he talked about safety related issues with the gateman Amit Mishra working at the gate and then after being satisfied with the answer of gateman, he reached a minor bridge and conducted a thorough safety inspection including the track fittings, ballast levelling, liner and signal posts from the track. Then after reaching a curve and another minor bridge, he checked all the parameters in depth. Thereafter, the CCRS inspected a major bridge and examined its composite girder and RCC foundation closely. He also checked the intent of two other curves.
While checking the RCC boxes of two minor bridges and a level crossing, Garg reached Pivkol station and inspected the inlay of railway track, line fittings, installation of signals etc. Under Bhatni-Aunrihar doubling project, construction of Bhatni-Pivkol (7 km) new bypass line is very useful as it will solve the problem of locomotive reversal at Bhatni Junction while the train coming from Siwan side and now the train can go towards Varanasi without changing the direction of the engine. Similarly, the trains can be sent towards Siwan and Chhapra in less time without shunting. With this, uninterrupted movement of trains will be possible in both directions, towards Chhapra and Gorakhpur, which will increase the line capacity and make movement of more trains possible. The byline facility for trains from Gorakhpur side is already available at Bhatni Jn station.
The other senior officers who were also present during the inspection of CCRS were Chief Director Planning Engineer Suresh Kumar, Chief Signal Engineer Gyan Prakash Shivnarayan, Deputy Chief Safety Officer Ashish Pandey, Chief Project Managers (RVNL) SPS Yadav and Kamal Kumar Talreja, ADRM (Infra) Roshan Lal Yadav, Chief Signal and Telecommunication Engineer (Construction) Neelabh Mahesh, Chief Engineer (Construction) Ashutosh Mishra, Senior Divisional Engineer (Coordination) Rakesh Ranjan, SDEs Anuj Verma and Rishi Srivastava, Senior Divisional Operations Manager AP Singh, Senior Divisional Safety Officer Balendra Paul, Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer (Traction) RN Singh, Senior Divisional Signal and Telecommunication Engineer Yashveer Singh, Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer (General) Pankaj Keshwani and many others.
