Chhattisgarh Police on Sunday seized 80 kg of cannabis valued at Rs 16 lakhs and arrested four persons in Mahasamund district who were transporting it from Odisha to Madhya Pradesh.
Mahasamund Additional Superintendent of Police Megha Tembhurkar said those arrested were Vikas Patel, Savendra Patel, Satendra Patel and Pradeep Patel.
Vikas Patel is from Raipur district while the other three are from Madhya Pradesh, she said.
The action was taken after a tip that the contraband was being transported to Madhya Pradesh via National Highway-53. Police intercepted a car at Rehtikhola check post, she added.
The cannabis was stuffed in four gunny bags.
