Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday asserted that India’s federal structure and cooperative federalism emerged as “a model for the world during the Covid crisis” and the country had sent a “powerful message” to the developing nations — that it is possible to overcome challenges with resilience, despite resource limitations.
Chairing the seventh Governing Council meeting of the Niti Aayog at Rashtrapati Bhavan’s Cultural Centre in the national Capital, the Prime Minister gave credit to States for delivering on the ground saying “every State played a crucial role according to its strength and contributed to India’s fight against Covid.
“This led to India emerging as an example for the developing nations to look up to as a global leader.”
The agenda of the Niti Aayog meeting included crop diversification and achieving self-sufficiency in oilseeds and pulses and agri-communities, implementation of the National Education Policy-school education, implementation of the National Education Policy-higher education, and urban governance.
This was the first physical meeting of the Governing Council since the onset of the pandemic. The 2021 meeting was held via video conferencing.
The meeting was attended by 23 Chief Ministers, three Lieutenant-Governors and two Administrators.
