Team Viva explores the nuances of the second-edition of Bumble’s YouTube series, Dating These Days

Bumble, the women-first dating and social networking app got together with Indian actor, model and singer Yashaswini Dayama and actor Ayush Mehra for the first episode of the second edition of Bumble’s YouTube series, Dating These Days.

The episode, which released earlier this week was all about dealing with heartbreaks and exes,

When asked about what advice she would provide when it comes to dealing with exes, Yashaswini said, “Think of it as not dealing with an ex, just somebody who used to get you, just humanise the person in front of you, somebody who’s been through a lot with you. When it comes to real heartbreaks, there’s no one sock that fits all. Just do what you need to do  — you need to cry it out for a month, do that or if you need to distract yourself and jump into work, do that. Don’t just play games or try to emulate somebody else’s definition of how to deal with exes.”

Yashaswini got real when asked how she would react if she saw her ex on Bumble, “It would hurt a lot but clearly, in this hypothetical scenario, I’m on Bumble as well. (laughs) So, it shall be water under the bridge, and fine, eventually.”

Ayush advises people to not carry bitterness from past experiences as he shares, “Disappointment is a feeling and it depends on every individual how they deal with it — some take time off, some dive into new things and experiences without wasting time. To each their own. According to me, one should focus on themselves, give themselves time,  self care/ doing things that make them happy as  it heals the soul and mind.”

Sharing his thoughts on finding the perfect one, Ayush said, “It’s not a hard & fast rule that you have to be in many relationships to end up in a perfect one! Sometimes it just works when you’re not looking for it.”

Listed below are three things that you need to bear in mind about heartbreaks and moving on, as per Yashasvini and Ayush:

  • Nobody’s perfect

Words like red flag and toxic can really get to us sometimes and more often than not, we end up blaming ourselves for the breakup. While you may have something that you may not necessarily like about yourself, that does not make you a bad person. It is important for you to remember that nobody is perfect and you are what makes you unique. So focus on always trying to understand and evolve yourself as you give yourself the time, love, and respect you deserve.

  • You can’t put a timeline someone’s coping mechanism

A lot of people often feel judged for moving on too quickly or even taking too long to move on. Amongst all the things that people say and your own fears, take the time to realise that everyone handles things differently. Some may move on in a few days and some may take months, but that does not change the amount of love and value you had for that relationship.

  • Take your time before you engage with the other person’s social media

A lot of us have found ourselves in situations where we spend hours going through our ex’s social media accounts after a breakup. We tell ourselves that we would do this just one last time before we end up in a constant loop keeping up with every update. But things like that could be quite unhealthy as they may bring back emotions and feelings that you’re not ready to deal with. Instead, give yourself the time you need to heal. Times like these are when you need yourself the most and the love and focus you give yourself to grow will help you to be at peace with not only yourself but also with the breakup.

For the second episode of Dating These Days 2.0, Bumble India has roped in Indian blogger, model, and TEDx speaker Anwesh Sahoo, along with comedian and YouTuber Kaneez Surka as they discuss physical and emotional intimacy, consent and the importance of sexual health and awareness.

You can catch the second episode on Bumble India’s YouTube channel, this Tuesday.
