Chhattisgarh Police seized 916 kg of cannabis valued at Rs 91.61 lakhs and arrested a man in Kabirdham district who was transporting it from Odisha to Uttar Pradesh.
Kabirdham Superintendent of Police Mohit Garg told The Pioneer over telephone that Manoj Kumar Nishad (29) hails from Raigarh district.
Action was taken against him on a tip that the contraband was being taken to Uttar Pradesh via the Kabirdham National Highway NH-30, Garg said.
Police intercepted a truck in the Chilfi police station limits. The cannabis was packed in gunny bags and hidden under husk. The truck was also seized.
