Mobile users can now avail free high-speed Internet at seven locations in the steel city. With the tireless efforts of the State Government and Bokaro district administration, Bokaro district is being developed into a WiFi zone.
In a bid to turn the district into WiFi city, the district administration in association with Jharkhand Communication Network Limited (JNCL) has started working on a free WiFi project for commoners. On the directive of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the action is being taken to convert Bokaro city into a WiFi zone, informed Rajesh Kumar Singh, Deputy Commissioner Bokaro.
“A total of 9 sites have been selected to develop as WiFi spots; six out of nine spots are presently providing free WiFi service with 10 Mbps speed. Following the lines of metro cities, we are working at various levels to provide free WiFi services,” he added.
District Informatics Officer Dhananjay Kumar informed that, installation of access points has also been completed at Deputy Commissioner Office - Camp-2, Block Office Chas, Bokaro General Hospital (BGH), City Center Sector -4, SDO Office Chas, Subdivision Office Bermo (Tenughat).
Currently 10 Mbps WiFi services are available on these points.
While services at Ram Mandir Sector-1, Naya More Bus Stand and at Dharamshala More Chas soon to be activated, he said.
To avail the facility users would have to select WiFi hotspot “bsnlbluetown” and then they have to click on connectivity and after inserting their mobile number they will receive an OTP (One Time Password). Using that OTP used can enjoy 500 mb high-speed internet free for a day (on daily basis), he said.
After exhausting 500mb, users can recharge online from the web page to continue the service, “Recharge amount would vary between Rs 9 and Rs 69 to for data between 1GB per day to 30GB for 30 days,” added Kumar.
“Each access point has a coverage distance of 60 m,” he said.
