AAP to fight elections in 6 States in next 2 years: Kejriwal

Friday, 29 January 2021 | Staff Reporter | NEW DELHI

Aam Aadmi Party national convenor  Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday announced that the AAP will fight elections in six States in the next two years, UP, Uttarakhand, Goa, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Gujarat.

Addressing the 9th National Council Meeting of the party, he said sin the last 70 years, the BJP and Congress have destroyed the nation which is why people need AAP because it has established politics of work and politics of development in just five years.

The chief minister encouraged the council members present in the meeting to form an organization to bring a change in the country.

"A national political party talks about India's history but has no vision and asserted that only AAP can give a vision for a 21st and 22nd century India.  At a time when Delhi witnessed 8500 cases, we had 7000 vacant beds due to Delhi's effective Corona strategy, unlike New York where the health system had collapsed completely at 6300 cases," he said.

Terming the violence on 26th January unfortunate, Kejriwal said that the violence does not mean that the farmers’ movement that represents their issues is over.

“The farmers have been deceived by all parties for the last 70 years. It is a question of their existence and they will lose their livelihoods if they do not sit on the streets," he said.

Kejriwal said, "For the first time in the country, we established politics of work and politics of development in these elections. All parties play the religion card to vote for their parties.

The chief minister said that both BJP and Congress destroyed the nation in the last 70 years. "This is the reason why people love AAP, what these governments could not do in the last 70 years, the AAP has done in the last five years," he said.

"Mankind has gone through some very difficult circumstances in the last year due to the Corona pandemic. All the villages and states were going through a very difficult period. But Delhi witnessed a very effective Corona management strategy due to the restraint and dedication of the AAP government. There was no politics and all organizations authorities, governments, and people were brought together and this management is being discussed across the world," he added.

"We have opened Mohalla clinics and improved infrastructure in government hospitals and because of this, the AAP government-managed Corona even though the pandemic had the worst impact on Delhi," he said.

"We implemented home isolation and plasma therapy. I saw that one person was giving repeated Corona samples at a hospital somewhere in some other state, which proves that fake tests were being conducted. We did not tamper with the stats and showed the people the true picture. We were heavily criticized when the impact of corona started increasing in Delhi," he said.

The AAP Government is being appreciated worldwide. The world's first plasma bank was started in Delhi on July 2 and on August 27, the US President followed on the lines of Delhi to use plasma therapy, he said.

Kejriwal said that the work done by the AAP government in Delhi is being recognized and appreciated across the country. AAP is respected and loved across villages and states. But when it comes to voting, they talk about how AAP is not established in these states, he added.

"If the AAP could do this in just five years, the BJP and Congress could do it in the last 70 years. This just proves that it was a deliberate attempt to push back the nation by keeping the people uninformed and keeping the nation underdeveloped," he said.

Kejriwal further said, "The farmers of our country are in distress. They have only been deceived by all parties in the last 70 years. They were promised loan waive-off that did not happen and promised jobs to their children that did not happen. Over 3.5 lakh farmers have committed suicide in the last 25 years. Now, these three bills will snatch the livelihood of farmers, i.e. farming and giving it to the corporates,".

Speaking on the violence happened on Wednesday, he said "The violence was unfortunate. The people and the parties who are the real culprits should be given the strictest punishment. But the movement of the farmers, due to which they are sitting on the borders for the last 60 days is not over. A nation where the farmers are unhappy can never prosper. We all have to support the farmers in our states, and our support should be non-violent," he said.
