Visually-hit teachers to take online classes

The State Government on Monday asked all degree colleges under the Higher Education Department to allow visually-impaired teachers to take online classes from their houses till normalcy is restored post the Covid-19 situation.

In a letter to Principals of the degree colleges, Higher Education Department Secretary Saswat Mishra said visually-impaired teachers can take online classes from their residences. They are not required to visit college campuses everyday to take online classes, he said.

Notably, online classes for undergraduate and postgraduate students in all colleges and universities have begun in the State from July 13.

The online classes are being be conducted on different applications like Google Meet, Skype and Zoom for three days a week. Teachers take the classes for two to three hours every day. They have also been asked to maintain attendance registers for the students during the classes.
