The online interaction series organized by KITE Studio of Karmyogi theatre troupe “Journey of Dreams” is captivating the attention og youngsters, as they are getting an opportunity to interact with some of the prominent artists from all over the country.
In the third episode, Manish Joshi, a prominent Theatre Director, Actor and Bismillah Khan Award winning Writer from Hissar (Haryana) was invited to share his experience, struggles and importance of theatre management with the youth.
During the conversation with Nitish Saair, Manish Joshi highlights the value of education and training required for young actors in order to work and stay long in the field. He told that nothing is more important than the quality of your play. If the quality work is not there than you will not be awarded with the audiences. To perform a play is rather a very big responsibility.
The actor should learn to work in every style and genre. "It is not necessary that you work in theatre for entire life, but you need to be honest and committed with yourself till you are working in the field," he added. He further added that he loves to work on biographies and life of legends, and have written plays on the life of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Chakradhar, Guru Nanak Dev.
He also stated that theatre management and stage management is not same, you have a lot of work to do in theatre and theatre management includes the part from pre production to post production. When asked about the importance of promotion and branding, he said that every play should be designed with strategy.
Today, most of the theatre groups only focus on plays, but there is also a need to create a structure and strategy of how to sell the play according to the nature of audience as it differs in every city.
Joshi is currently writing plays and has written three plays during the lockdown phase.
