Congress slams BJD for ‘no development’ in State

Sunday, 20 December 2020 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

n The Odisha Student Congress led by its newly-appointed president Sayed Yasir Nawaj held a ‘Kampan’ rally from near the airport to the Congress Bhawan here on Saturday.

Later, addressing a meeting at the party headquarters, Congress Odisha in-charge A Chella Kumar said the Congress Governments in the past set up the Hirakud Dam, Paradip Port, Rourkela Steel Plant and Nalco in Odidha. But the BJD in its 20-year tenure has only looted and exploited the people of the State. “The Student Congress can only bring a change in Odisha,” Kumar added.

OPCC president Niranjan Patnaik said the Naveen Patnaik Government has failed to combat the coronavirus pandemic. The Chief Minister had said he would provide employment to two lakh youths but has failed to fulfil his promise. Though being in power for 20 long years, the Chief Minister, instead of setting up new industries, is shutting down the medium and heavy industries set up during the Congress regime. Among others, Jayadev Jena, Prasad Harichandan, Pradeep Majhi, Rama Chandra Khuntia, Tara Prasad Bahinipati, Shibananda Ray, Manas Chaudhury and Subhendu Mohanty were present.
