‘Garib Kalyan Rozgar Abhiyan’ not sufficient for J'khand, says JPCC

Sunday, 21 June 2020 | PNS | Ranchi

Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) said on Saturday that due to nationwide complete lockdown, the economy of the entire Country has collapsed, in such a situation, the Garib Kalyan Rozgar Abhiyan is not enough to start in only 116 districts of the Country and only three districts of backward State like Jharkhand.

In a joint statement issued by JPCC Spokesperson Alok Kumar Dubey, Lal Kishorenath Shahdeo, Rajesh Gupta said that in the past also the Prime Minister announced a relief package of Rs 20 lakh crore, how much benefit the poor and middle class families got, it is well known and now how much benefit will be gained from this new scheme,it will also be known to everyone soon.Shahdeo said that out of 24 districts of Jharkhand 18 are included in the list of expected districts, so only three districts may be expected to get few employment opportunities, but to increase the employment opportunities in other districts under MGNREGA scheme more funds should be made available, as well as special assistance needs to be provided under the Food Security Act.

Demanding more MGNREGA wages for the State's labourers, Dubey said that in the last few days, the Secretary of the Central Rural Development Department had refused to increase the MGNREGA wage rate during the visit to Jharkhand, whereas many other states of the Country are getting more MGNREGA wages than Jharkhand, hence the MGNREGA workers of the State are angry.

Rajesh Gupta said that more than seven and a half lakh people are getting employment in Jharkhand through MNREGA schemes, while the State Government has been requested to provide ration under the Food Security Act by December, Jharkhand's population also increased however, the Central Government says that additional ration will be provided after the 2021 census.

Despite this, the people of Jharkhand are hopeful that the Central Government will take a liberal decision and the difficulties of the people will be overcome, he added.
