On a day when Mumbai recorded 19 more deaths and 508 new infected cases, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced that it has begun to use an Artificial Intelligence technology in three health facilities in the city to assess the assess condition of Covid 19 patients.
The BMC’s decision to use an Artificial Intelligence technology in three health facilities in the city came amid reports that the total number of deaths in Mumbai had mounted to 508, while the total number of infected cases had risen to 13,739.
With no let up in the increasing fatalities and infections, Maharashtra on Sunday reported 53 Covid-19 deaths, while there were 1278 new infected cases. With the fresh tally, the total number of deaths has gone up to 832, while the total number of infected cases has scaled up to 22,171.
Announcing the introduction of new Artificial Intelligence technology in three health facilities in the city to assess the assess condition of CoVID 19 patients, the BMC said: “We have introduced a new technology ‘QURE’S qXR CHEST XRAY SOFTWARE’, It is an Artificial Intelligence technology being used in HBT Trauma care Hosp, Kasturba Hosp &Podar Hospital & NSCI Dome CCC Worli to assess condition of Covid 19 patients,” the BMC stated in its medical bulletin issued on Sunday evening.
“Till now around 3000 X-ray scan have been assessed by this method. It is a new technology which is also used on pilot basis for screening and monitoring progression of admitted patients. This technique will also proposed to deploy in other hospitals,” the BMC stated.
Of the 19 deaths reported on Sunday, 13 patients had co-morbidities. Ten patients were men while nine were women. “while one of the deceased was below 40 years, five were above 60 years and 13 were aged between 40 to 60 years,” the bulletin said.
