Environmental issues are big issues now-a-days to which everyone must be aware and give their positive efforts to solve such issues. With a view to protect environment, every year of June 5 celebrated as World Environment Day and in order to spread awareness among masses about environment protection almost all Public Sector Units (PSUs) observed World Environment Day on Wednesday with much fanfare.
Environment issue is very important for coal field and one of the main mining sector bigwigs of the State, Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) celebrated the day with organising an oath taking programme. Employees of CCL participated in the oath ceremony at CCL headquarters, in Ranchi as well in all areas including CCL hospitals and other establishments of the company to protect environment. Oath was administered by Director Technical (P and P) Bhola Singh and employees constituting General Managers and Head of Departments from headquarters, representatives of various unions and others repeated the statements of Singh, which was aimed at protecting the environment for coming generations.
Director (Technical and Operations) VK Srivastava, who hoisted environmental flag, was present to grace the occasion. The theme of World Environment Day was to ‘Beat Air Pollution.’
Addressing the gathering on the occasion Singh said that all of us should give the environment a paramount place in our lives and should do such a thing in our daily activities that the next generation can feel the beauty of the environment and they too preserve it for next generation. This will lead to sustainable development, he added.
Another reputed PSU of the State, Central Mine Planning and Design Institute (CMPDI) celebrated World Environment Day, with theme “Beat Air Pollution” in the CMPDI premises with much fanfare.
Day begins with the hoisting of Environment Flag followed by Coal India Song. Director (Technical) BN Shukla administered the environment pledge to the employees of CMPDI (HQ) and Regional Institute-III.
On this occasion Shukla stressed integrated holistic approach is needed to minimize the impacts of global warming and all efforts should be made towards zero discharge of pollution. Coal India has planted millions of trees and undertaking programmes under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) combat climate change. He also stressed that worshiping mother earth and peaceful co-existence with nature is in Indian culture. Message of Chairman, Coal India Limited was read on this occasion.
Steel sector company, MECON Limited, celebrated the “World Environment Day” on Wednesday at Rose Garden, MECON Township, Ranchi, with an objective to create awareness among the people on this year’s theme of “Air Pollution”. The program mainly encompassed the issues of Air Pollution.
The saplings of native species in Rose Garden were planted by higher management and their families along with the other officials. Also, plants were distributed among families of participants and MECON employees for plantation at their home. It was emphasized that MECON is committed towards the objectives of increasing green cover, energy efficiency, sustainable development, through his activities and services.
Ranchi Division of South Eastern Railway (SER) also celebrated, World Environment Day. Various programs were organized on this occasion.
Divisional Rail Manager, Vijay Kumar Gupta and the President Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Vaishali Gupta, were participated in tree plantation programme.
The newly constructed garden near Hatia Station was inaugurated by Gupta along with Vaishali Gupta. .On this occasion, ADRM MM Pandit, Chief Medical Superintendent B K Sethi, Senior Board Engineer Coordination Amit Kanchan, Sr DCM Avnish and other officers were also present.
