A joint team of World Health Organization (WHO) and Union health ministry arrived on a three day’s visit to the state to survey the ongoing tuberculosis elimination programme.
It held a meeting at district hospital Kalibadi and reviewed the schemes being run by the state to eliminate the lethal disease.
The team was apprised that due to awareness increased in patients the enrolment of patients has increased in the state. The CBNAAT is available in district tuberculosis hospital as well as Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Medical College Hospital of the state capital to diagnose the tuberculosis.
The health team also inspected the enrolment register at microscopic lab of the tuberculosis hospital. CMHO Dr Mira Baghel informed that in case a patient is found TB positive then the patient is sent to Integrated Counseling and Testing Center (ICTC).
Baghel further informed the team that since January till October this year a total of 19800 sputum samples were tested and 4648 cases were found tuberculosis positive.
The team after conducting inspection of various hospitals across the district later handed over a detailed report to District Collector and according to the report a comprehensive plan would be chalked out for effective approach in tuberculosis elimination programme.
