The South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) became the first company in India to cross coal production of 150 million tonnes in a financial year.
It attained the feat during the financial year 2018-19, a SECL press release said.
While achieving the annual coal production record, the company created several new records on day-to-day basis under the leadership of its CMD A P Panda, the press release said.
On March 10, the SECL created a record of highest single day coal production by mining 6,30,000 tonnes of the combustible hard rock . Two days later, it broke its own record by producing 6,37,000 tonnes of coal in a single day.
Again on March 18, the SECL created a new production record by producing 6,66,000 tonnes of coal in single day. This was the highest single day coal production in Coal India Limited.
The wave did not stop here. On March 25 the SECL broke all previous records by producing 744654 tonnes of coal in a single day. This was the highest ever single day coal production since the inception of the SECL.
The company also fared well at area level. On March 12, Dipka area achieved the highest ever single day coal production of 1,45,421 tonnes. On March 19 the SECL’s Gevra Mine achieved a single day coal production of 2,05,795 tonnes, which was the highest single day coal production for any mine under Coal India Limited during the current financial Year. On March 19, Gevra despatched 1,68,087.31 tonnes of coal, which is the highest ever despatched by any mine in Coal India Limited.
During 2017-18 fiscal, the SECL produced 144.7 MT of coal, thus making it the largest coal producing subsidiary of Coal India Limited. The SECL crossed this coal production figure of 144.7 MT on March 10 itself.
The company attributes the achievement to the hard work and commitment of its employees who made all efforts to meet the annual production target.
